Here is an excellent kick-ass summery of what went down yesterday.
It also includes the OTHER major part of this story:
NO MAJOR NEWS NETWORK REPORTED ON THIS.
The state of Texas went absolutely bugfuck INSANE last night, we literally stormed our own capitol building because we did not want this shit in our state, the state legislature modified public records to hide flagrant violation of the law, and CNN was reporting on motherfucking MUFFINS.
Looks like the governor is going to hold a special session to pass it anyway :/ Godsdammit, do they *want* rioting? Are they really that dumb and/or self-important?
ReplyDeleteI think it's two factors.
DeleteThe first is the courage of their convictions. They believe that they are right, that God is on their side and that they will succeed if they just. keep. trying. (...sounds familiar)
Second: They got smashed into the ground by a bunch of random people, a white woman in hot pink sneakers and an overweight hispanic lady who refused to take any of their shit. They flagrantly broke the law and got called on it. They have just utterly fucking LOST every fence-sitter who watched that livestream, or who heard about it second hand, and a lot of people who would actually rather like the abortion ban (ie my mother) are just as pissed off about the bullshit that went down in that last hour as the women who protested. Because they took it from being a woman's right issue to a bullshit corruption issue the second they called the roll at 12:03.
If ANY of these men EVER want to get back into office again, they have to pass the law. NOW. They lost so much face last night that they can't afford to wait a month for another special session. They have to prove, right now, that they still have balls. They don't. Van De Putte took care of that. But they have to prove that they do. It's the only way to preserve any core of voters. Otherwise they'd be "Those chicken shits that lost to a girl" to half the state, and the sons-of-bitches who tried to cheat Davis, Watson, Ellis and Van De Putte and lost because the Texas public wouldn't let them to the other half.
In other words, this is what sheer utter fucking panic looks like when you're a politician.
