Clothes reflect where the character is in society, how they choose to relate to their society, what they want to be seen as... A tonne of different things. Some books do this very well - In The Hunger Games clothing are used as media and political performance. IRL even my own can't-be-bothered outfits tell you how I feel about fashion.

LKH just seems to throw pretty-sexy-fetish clothes on her characters without any thought given as to how the characters will actually look in those clothes. The end result is like encountering a Vampire: The Masquerade LARPer who forgot to change outfits before going into the office Monday morning.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05828438966741169694noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3350096535937978369.post-80582728704594520502013-07-02T12:53:45.373-07:002013-07-02T12:53:45.373-07:00“Well, that's fair. Probably because the clothing is usually crap.

Any trauma not related to sex (unless it’s Anita’s own traumas, of course) actually indeed doesn’t count in this series and it really freaks me out. For instnace, now that she’s collecting tigers, the mixed-bloodline ones in her harem (Domino and Ethan) get the angsty background of being socially shunned in their society for being more than one color. However, the biggest tragedy there is presented not so much as being a paraiah, but as not getting any sex because you’re a pariah. They don’t really seem to have any issues from being cultural dirt-caste besides that, though. Because what’s more important than sex, right? THE ONLY TRAUMA THAT IS TRAUMA IS SEX, WHETHER IT'S RAPE OR BEING DENIED GETTING BONED BY PEOPLE. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.
RFhttp://a-sporking-rat.livejournal.comnoreply@blogger.com
