This scares me.

Fight Club is one of those movies that says something really profound every ten minutes and doesn't care if you notice or not. And (This might not make any sense) that's why it works. You can't pull off a "Fight Club" if you've gone out to say something profound. It only works if you start out trying to tell a story and discover something profound halfway through. Otherwise you've just shoehorned something into a story that doesn't really belong. See Terry Goodkind's work for a really good example (Also, chickens are chickens. Evil chickens are still chickens. Trying to convince me both that you have something PROFOUND! to say AND that the evil chicken has a chance against the super-powered mind-control quasi-queen only makes you look like an idiot.) (I don't like Terry Goodkind.)Christwriterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17590823821715820817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3350096535937978369.post-20351066863329075782011-06-01T14:58:34.236-07:002011-06-01T14:58:34.236-07:00Good point about telling vs. selling a story. I think some people were lured in by Brad Pitt shirtless, whatever sells the movie tickets I guess.

I saw The Big Lebowski for the first time earlier this year. And that it was a short story that got a little big.

Also?
